Midroc Project Management is a part of Midroc Europe, which is a comprehensive partner in the areas of properties, construction, industry and environmental technology. Our goal is to make our customers more competitive and to contribute to a better future through the implementation of sustainable solutions and innovation. Our operations are international, with Sweden as base. Midroc has 3300 employees and turnover in 2015 was SEK 5,8 billion.

Role in the project

Midroc is the project coordinator and leads WP8 Management. In addition, Midroc is providing the design of the commercial array solution (installation, service and maintenance procedures) and leads WP5 Commercial Array Power System & Solution. Midroc also supports WP2 Offshore Measurements & Data Collection, WP3 Sub-system Development and Laboratory Tests and WP7 Dissemination & Exploitation.

About ENGIE Lab Laborelec

ENGIE Lab Laborelec is a world-renowned centre of expertise in electrical power, supporting industry partners with research, development and specialist services. It was established in 1962 in order to support Belgian electricity companies with research, development, and specialized services. Today, it is part of the Research and Technologies Department of the ENGIE Group, a world leader in energy.

Role in the project

ENGIE Lab Laborelec provides expertise on power grid requirements and power grid integration in WP2 Offshore Measurements & Data Collection, WP3 Sub-system Development and Laboratory Tests and WP5 Commercial Array Power System & Solution. In addition Laborelec support WP7 Dissemination & Exploitation and WP8 Management.

MINESTO AB

About Minesto

Minesto was spun-out from Saab Group in 2007 and has since then successfully carried out technology development for a system, called Deep Green, designed to produce electricity from low velocity tidal and ocean currents, at a cost of energy on par with conventional energy sources. In May 2015, Minesto secured a €13m investment from the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh European Funding Office, for the commercial rollout of Deep Green.

Role in the project

Minesto is the key technology provider of the project and developer of the Deep Green concept. As such, Minesto is involved in all WPs. Minesto provides its test platforms in Strangford Lough and Holyhead Deep with a large contribution to WP2 Offshore Measurements & Data Collection (WP lead), WP3 Sub-system Development (WP lead) and WP4 System Analysis and Optimization. Minesto also supports WP1 Modelling and Simulations, WP5 Commercial Array Power System & Solution, WP6 LCA & Environmental Impact Asssessment, WP8 Management. Finally, Minesto leads WP7 Dissemination & Exploitation.

CHALMERS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

About Chalmers University of Technology

Chalmers tekniska hoegskola (Chalmers University of Technology) was founded in 1829 following a donation by William Chalmers. Chalmers has developed leading research in the areas of life sciences, materials science, information technology, micro-and nanotechnology, environmental sciences and energy technology. Chalmers’ annual turnover (2014) is €380M, out of which 71 % is related to research.

Role in the project

The Division of Electric Power Engineering supports WP1 Modelling and Simulations, WP2 Offshore Measurements & Data Collection (power system performance), WP3 Sub-system Development (power conversion sub-system), WP4 System Analysis & Optimization, WP7 Dissemination & Exploitation and WP8 Management. The Division of Environmental Systems Analysis supports WP2 Offshore Measurements & Data Collection (noise and collision risk), WP6 LCA and Environmental Impact Assessment, WP7 Dissemination & Exploitation and WP8 Management.

SSPA SWEDEN AB

About SSPA Sweden

Since 75 years SSPA Sweden has performed development in ship design and operations within the maritime sector, in close cooperation with industry and society. Research at SSPA is focused on maritime transport from a holistic perspective. Efficiency, environmental impact and safety with respect to vehicle design, ports and waterways as well as maritime operations are key areas for in-depth research. SSPA´s long term expertise in areas such as optimum ship hull and propulsion design and mathematical modelling of vehicle motions in waves and confined waters.

Role in the project

SSPA leads WP1 Modelling and Simulations. SSPA also supports WP2 Offshore Measurements & Data Collection (turbine performance), WP3 Sub-system Development (turbine design), WP7 Dissemination & Exploitation and WP8 Management.
